<<<<<<<<<<<<Installation>>>>>>>>>>>>

Put the map in your TA directory, usually C:\CAVEDOG\TOTALA unless you've setup an alternatve.

The unit limit patch is exactly the same, place both files in your TA directory.

<<<<<<<<<<<<Overview>>>>>>>>>>>>

Having seen all the wild, colourful, detailed, complex maps over the years I decided to go back to basics. I wanted to make a map that would support wars. Not minor BATTLES of a few hundred units on each team going at each other in a beautiful setting, but huge WARS of thousands of units frantically blowing each other to bits in cold metal wastelands. So here it is, inspired by the Supreme Commander trailer (as I watched the clash of two giant armies), Metal Desert v2.

Set in part of Core Prime's unused industrial sector, the Metal Desert bares no signs of life, no scrap, no buildings, just the familiar metallic landscape of Core's homeworld.

<<<<<<<<<<<<Story>>>>>>>>>>>>

Originally absent from Core's contingency plan was what would happen to Core Prime's industrial sectors. All but one had been included on the 'refurbishment list', something that the CORE did consistently well was plan too far ahead, past their next battle(s), always expecting to win.

This time, however, things were different. The CORE and the ARM had clashed head on, ARM had won. Core Prime was lost. Yet the remnants of the shattered CORE put their contingency plan into action.

Nearly two thousand years after the Core Contingency, both the ARM and CORE are struggling as their cloning centres start burning out, they lose the vital resources to build more and their once massive armies now begin to lose numbers as the war rages on.

A CORE commander wanders into the Metal Desert region, this place long forgotten from their maps. CORE now set about using the resources here to build up a new army to take on the dwindling ARM and end the war once and for all, CORE's Vengeance plan is put into action...

<<<<<<<<<<<<Details>>>>>>>>>>>>

The Metal Desert supports a max of 10 players, the teams are ODD v EVEN, with players 9 and 10 being in the centre but in switched places, pushing them into the action, varying the team play.

>>NOTE: I would recommend playing with all 10 players and the 2000 unit limit (or greater) if you have a fast computer. This map is best played with a unit limit greater than 1000. A 2000 unit limit patch has been included with the map file, just put the necessary files in your TA directory. You can alter the unit limit by changing the value in the .ini file.<<

The mound in the centre of the map provides a good position for long range plasma cannons like the Big Bertha or Intimidator.
There are no geothermal vents in the Metal Desert
as this is an unused industrial sector, not yet altered by the CORE war machine.

You do NOT need the Core Contingency + Battle Tactics expansion pack to play this map.

My name is Ra2eR. I've had TA since it came out all those years ago. Having had a break of playing for a few years, I returned to see what was new in the TA world.

With Supreme Commander coming out early next year I've started making huge maps designed especially for full-scale wars, with both resources and having enough space to build being put aside for the constant TA action.

I hope you enjoy Metal Desert 2! :)

More maps to come...
